LOOK: Detroit Lions disrespected by ESPN in latest NFL Power Rankings

After looking at the schedule prior to the start of the 2017 season, not many thought that a great start was in the stars for the Detroit Lions. But, lead mostly by their defense, the Lions were able to weather the storm and jump out to a 3-1 record.

The hot start put the Lions on the national radar as they ranked within the top 10 in just about every NFL power Rankings list you could find.

But after three-straight losses to drop to 3-4, many started to believe the “same old Lions” were back again and they plummeted in the power rankings.

On Monday night, the Lions invaded Lambeau Field and handed the Green Bay Packers a 30-17 whooping they will not soon forget. Matthew Stafford and the Lions offense moved the ball at will (except for in the red zone) and they did not have to punt a single time in the game.

So, one would think a performance like that on the national stage would gain the Lions some respect across the board, right? They would have to climb in the (meaningless) power rankings, right?

Wrong, and wrong!

Well, whoever put together the NFL power rankings over at ESPN obviously did not tune in on Monday night to watch the Lions dominating performance on the road. In fact, they moved Detroit DOWN one spot from last week to No. 16 in the latest rankings.

Here is what ESPN had to say about the Lions as they head into Week 10.

“The Lions took down an Aaron Rodgers-less Packers team to end a three-game losing streak, with Matthew Stafford posting his first game this season of 300-plus yards, multiple touchdowns and no picks. Detroit has had its ups and downs this season but has risen slightly in these rankings.”

Just in case the morons over at ESPN change the rankings, here is a screenshot.

The Lions will have their next chance to impress when the return to Ford Field this Sunday to take on the winless Cleveland Browns.

  1. Hey, the Lions do not have a killer instinct. Yes they won Monday Night, but no one ever fears the Lions. That game they should have won by 15 points, going on long drives and only ending up with a field goal, got a QB that makes a load of money, but can only get you to the red zone a TE that tells everyone to respect him but drops everything. A defense that will take plays off. On paper thus team should be blowing teams out of the water but can only love tap other teams.
Been watching the same crap ever since I can remember, time people do the same I do. don’t buy anything that shows the Detroit Lions.
