Brady Hoke, who spent four mostly unsuccessful years as the head coach of the Michigan Wolverines, is getting another shot at running things for a college football team.
The news came out Sunday morning that Tennessee has fired head coach Butch Jones, and Hoke will take over for the rest of the year.
Can confirm reports that Tennessee has fired Butch Jones and Brady Hoke will serve as interim coach remainder of the season.

Hoke took over as the defensive line coach for the Volunteers this season after spending last season as the defensive coordinator at Oregon.
Hoke has been a head coach for 12 seasons, making stops at Ball State and San Diego State before arriving in Ann Arbor in 2011. His overall head coaching record is 148-78 and was 11-2 in his first season at Michigan. However, Hoke was only 20-18 in his last three seasons with the Wolverines, leading to his firing after the 2014 season.
Jones began his head coaching career at Central Michigan before moving to Cincinnati and eventually to Tennessee in 2013. After back-to-back 9-4 seasons under Jones, the Volunteers were just 4-6 this year and lost 50-17 at Missouri on Saturday.
Hoke’s first test as the head coach of the Volunteers is this coming Saturday when they host Louisiana State.

Harbaugh: 28-8
Hoke: 25-11
Each has earned one New Years Day bowl invitation.
Hoke had two rivalry wins by this point, while Jim Harbaugh has only one. if Hoke was “mostly unsuccessful, then Jim Harbaugh isn’t much better.
