2017 is a season Detroit Tigers slugger Miguel Cabrera would rather just put behind him. In 130 games, Miggy only hit .249 with 16 home runs and 60 RBIs. His slugging percentage (.399) and OPS (.728) were both career lows.

Just last week during the general manager meetings in Orlando, Tigers GM Al Avila said that Cabrera has already been training for 2018 and that he is feeling good.

From Detroit Free Press:

“He’s doing very good,” Avila said.

How good? Opening Day still is five months away, but “right now, in talking to him, he is probably going to be stronger than ever,” Avila said.

Well, now we have some proof that Cabrera has been training as David Alexander, the owner of DBC Fitness in Miami, posted a few things to his Instagram account showing Miggy working hard and making progress.

As you can see by the photo below, Cabrera is already making substantial progress, including losing 11 pounds in two weeks.

Watch the video below which shows Cabrera working on a reaction drill. As Alexander notes in the post, “Everything has a purpose when you train” with him.

Alexander is not just any trainer, he is the trainer of LeBron James, Dwayne Wade, and Antonio Brown.

What do you think, Nation? Will this offseason training help Cabrera to get back to his old self, or is he just too old? Time will tell.
