Did star Michigan State player just reveal his intention to return in 2018?

There has been a lot of speculation lately about whether or not junior running back LJ Scott will be returning to school next fall for his senior season at Michigan State. Many have speculated that Scott would opt to declare for the NFL Draft early, and skip his final year playing in the green and white.

Yesterday, those talks heated up a little bit more with it being the Spartans’ home finale.

Graham Couch of the Lansing State Journal gave his take, stating that ‘it looked like Scott was running extra hard in what could have been his last game at Spartan Stadium.’

Well, Scott may have just provided us with a big hint that should quiet down the speculation; at least for a little while.

Now you can be the judge of whether or not to make anything out of this, but by the looks of it I’m guessing the star running back will be back for his senior season.

Scott leads the Spartans in rushing right now, rushing for 731 yards and six touchdowns so far on the season. He came up six yards shy of reaching 1,000 a season ago, and he has been Michigan State’s top back since taking over as the starter during his freshman season in 2015.

Last season, he rushed for 139 yards and a score in a loss to No. 2 Michigan and then followed that up by rushing for 160 yards and a touchdown against No. 2 Ohio State. He also caught two passes for 76 yards and a score in that contest.

Had Scott left early, his legacy at Michigan State would have been remembered as mostly good. He scored the game-winning touchdown against Iowa in the 2015 Big Ten Championship game and has had some dazzling performances throughout his career to this point.

2017 hasn’t been his best season, as he’s lost four fumbles on the season and hasn’t been able to burst out much behind a young offensive line that has struggled to get much push up front.

That being said, Scott has still been a very good running back who has had a mostly good career as a Spartan. It appears that for now, his career might still be a ways from over.
