It has been awhile since the last time the Michigan Wolverines beat their arch-rivals; the Ohio State Buckeyes. The most recent instance was back on November 26, 2011 to be exact, when quarterback Denard Robinson led the Wolverines to a 40-34 win over the Buckeyes.
Robinson was a senior that year, playing in his final game at the Big House. He certainly delivered, becoming the third FBS player since 2000 to pass for over 150 yards, rush for 150 yards or more, and and account for five touchdowns in just one game.
Brady Hoke was in his first season at Michigan as the head coach back then, and Luke Fickell was serving as the head coach for Ohio State. It had already been announced that Urban Meyer would be taking over for the Buckeyes the next season.
“The Game” was high-scoring, and exciting. Both teams were able to move the ball and put up points on the scoreboard. Here’s a little flashback:

The Wolverines snapped a seven-game losing streak to the Buckeyes on that day, their longest losing streak ever against the Buckeyes. Michigan was able to put up 40 points, their most against Ohio State since they scored 58 against the Buckeyes back in 1946.
The Wolverines’ seniors were able to end their careers on a high note, beating Ohio State for the first time on their last try.
Michigan led the game 37-34, when kicker Brendan Gibbons kicked a 43-yard field goal with just under two minutes remaining to put the Wolverines up by six. The Wolverine defense was able to hold off the Buckeyes offense on the final possession, and Michigan held on for a 40-34 victory.
Now every Michigan fan knows that the Wolverines haven’t been able to beat the Buckeyes since that game and the arrival of Urban Meyer. They’ll be hoping the Wolverines will be able to change that this Saturday, when Michigan hosts Ohio State with a chance to ruin the Buckeyes’ playoff hopes.
