The University of Michigan Wolverines have just finished a disappointing season that saw them go 8-4 and once again lose to their rivals from Michigan State and Ohio State.

Much of the discussion in the aftermath of Michigan’s 30-23 loss to the Buckeyes has centered around head coach Jim Harbaugh, and whether or not he’s lived up to the lofty expectations that came with the deal he signed to return to his alma matter, as well as the rumored lifetime deal that could soon be in the works.

Harbaugh called the rumor of a lifetime deal “fake news“.

“No,” he responsded when asked about whether or not the rumored contract was distracting. “Fake news. That was irrelevant.”

Whether or not there is such a deal in the works, Jay Glazer of Fox Sports stirred the pot a bit when he said on “NFL Sunday” that there are NFL teams that will soon have job openings, and hinted at the possibility that they would try to lure Harbaugh away from Michigan and back into the NFL.

“Some people in the NFL were actually tuning in to see Jim Harbaugh if he would lose. And the reason why is Jim Harbaugh is still a very hot candidate,” he said. “There’s a lot of people in the NFL who will have job openings who are hoping that things go downhill with him, and that he could possibly be available to lure him back to an NFL head coaching position.”

Harbaugh has already coached in the NFL, leading the San Francisco 49ers to 36 wins and three consecutive NFC championship games and a Super Bowl appearance in his four years as head coach.
