In the third period of a 7-0 drubbing by the Washington Capitals, the Philadelphia Flyers started to get frustrated. That frustration culminated in a huge line brawl roughly a quarter of the way through the 3rd period. Flyers goalie Ray Emery skated the length of the ice to take his frustrations out on Capitals netminder Braden Holtby. Holtby wasn’t exactly a willing combatant, and was rewarded for his pacifism with quite the beatdown.

While Emery’s actions were questionable at best, no one can argue that a goalie fight isn’t exciting. The two teams engaged in another skirmish in their next meeting, which resulted in a 6-4 Flyers victory.

KHL player Damir Ryspayev earns lifetime ban for actions during brawl [VIDEO]

We’ve all heard the saying “Detroit vs. Everybody“. In this case it’s “Ryspayev vs. Everybody”. In a match over in the KHL between the Barys Astana and Red Star Kunlun, a brawl broke out roughly 3 minutes into the first period. Damir Ryspayev sucker-punched Red Star center Tomas Marcinko, resulting in Marcinko being stretchered off the ice. This initiated the brawl.

Keep in mind that this was a pre-season contest. After the punch, Ryspayev attacked two other unwilling combatants, whipping them around the ice. He then approached the Red Star’s bench. He grabbed and swung at players behind the bench, eventually resulting in the officials wrangling him and throwing him in the penalty box.
