In a move that surprises no one, the Detroit Tigers have officially non-tendered reliever Bruce RondonAnd all Tigers fans collectively cheer. Rondon can now test the free agent market and sign with any club that wants him.

Rondon has been a bit of a problem child for the Tigers of the last few years. After being dismissed from the team in 2015 during the season, he wasn’t even guaranteed a spot on the team in 2016, and was demoted from the Major League roster this past season and spent most of the year in Triple-A.

In 123 appearances with the Tigers, Rondon complied an 8-7 record, 5.00 ERA, 133 strikeouts, and 55 walks. All of this from a guy touted for his fastball and seemingly supposed to be the closer or set up man of the future. So much potential never realized.

The Tigers now have two available roster spots on their 40-man roster.
