Joel Embiid is seemingly always making headlines. Whether it is his stat line, a highlight, or his trash talking Embiid loves the spotlight. With that said it should come to no one’s surprise that Embiid is at it yet again, but this time calling out Detroit Piston’s All-Star center Andre Drummond.

This latest headline comes before the big time matchup between the Sixers and Pistons tonight.

This is not the first time Embiid has called out Drummond. The previous beef came after Embiid dropped 30 points on the Pistons earlier this year. Where he called on Drummond’s lack of defense.

Andre Drummond heard what Embiid had to say and took it to heart. His response was simple, “see you December 2nd”.

Guess what? It’s December 2nd and it’s time for the much-anticipated match-up between two of the best centers in the league.

Despite what Joel Embiid thinks, Drummond has done a lot to shed the label that he can’t shoot. Drummond is shooting 64% from the free throw line this year and although that may not sound spectacular compared to last year it is a success. The most important note about that 64% is that teams no longer apply the Hack-a-Drummond strategy that virtually shut down the Pistons offense last year. Which ultimately led to Andre Drummond sitting out key moments of each game.

In comparison, Drummond actually has a better field goal percentage than Embiid. Drummond is shooting 55% from the field while Embiid is shooting 49% from the field, albeit on more deeper shots.

Embiid has given Drummond plenty of bulletin board material for tonight’s matchup. The Sixers got the best of the Pistons in their first matchup in early November, but the Pistons have been on a tear ever since. Tonight should be a dandy as two of the league’s premier centers square off in a potentially heated matchup.
