As if getting slaughtered on the road against the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday, the Detroit Lions add injury to insult. Quarterback Matthew Stafford departed the game with a hand injury suffered in the fourth quarter.

After heading to the locker room with ice on his hand, Stafford was eventually ruled out for the remainder of the game. The Ravens went on to defeat the Lions, 44-20.

The play where the injury for Stafford came late in the fourth quarter. The Lions were trailing the Ravens 30-20 at the time. Having completed his previous 20 pass attempts in the game, Stafford was then picked off and taken down on the play. Replay showed that he had his hand stepped on by Ravens linebacker Terrell Suggs.

Stafford up until the point was doing his part to keep Detroit in the game against Baltimore. He finished 24/29, including the previously mentioned 20 straight completed passes, for 292 yards and a touchdown to go with that interception in the fourth quarter.

Lions backup quarterback Jake Rudock entered the game for Detroit’s final two offensive series of the game. It was Rudock’s first official NFL action. He threw an interception that was returned for a Baltimore touchdown. Rudock finished with three completions on five attempts for 24 yards.
