Jim Harbaugh’s love for recruiting knows no boundaries. Combine this will Ole Miss’s current situation and you get prime Jim Harbaugh. The NCAA came down harsh on the Rebels with scholarship reductions and an extended bowl game ban. This has led to an influx of players seeking to transfer from Ole Miss. Harbaugh wasted no time in his newest recruiting journey.

This is from an Ole Miss reporter in Oxford.

At first, the “Ole Miss to Michigan” rumors started with star quarterback Shea Patterson’s reported interest in coming north to play at Michigan. However, the former 5-star recruit Patterson is not the only Ole Miss transfer that Harbaugh has already moved in on. Deontay Anderson, a (now former) safety for Ole Miss, appears to have already had breakfast with the recruiting guru himself.

Anderson was voted second team All-SEC as a true freshman two years ago, piling up 32 tackles and an interception. He decided to sit out and redshirt his sophomore year due to the impending NCAA sanctions. Anderson is a former 4-star prospect and top-10 player from the state of Texas in the Class of 2016.

News is that he is reportedly set to visit Michigan this week for the Michigan men’s basketball game vs. UCLA on Saturday. Anderson will be joined by the aforementioned Patterson, as well as wide receiver Van Jefferson.

Jefferson is another Ole Miss transfer that the Wolverines are in a good position to get. Jefferson played his first two years of prep football at St. Mary’s Prep in Orchard Lake, MI. His original recruiting stint came down to Ole Miss vs. Michigan before ultimately choosing the Rebels, but now circumstances have changed.

In two years at Ole Miss, Jefferson has totaled 999 yards receiving and four touchdowns. He would instantly add some depth and experience to a largely unproven wide receiver corps for Michigan

All three of these players are underclassmen but will reportedly seek the right to play right away on the base that they were misled about the severity of the sanctions. This weekend should be interesting as Harbaugh will look to continue his recruiting magic, but this time on transfers. With all that said, recruiting is great but results are better. Let’s see if Harbaugh can combine these two.
