It’s been a rocky season for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and their head coach Dirk Koetter. The Buccaneers enter Sunday’s game against the Detroit Lions with a record of 4-8, and are completely out of the playoff chase in the NFC.

Entering the season, the Bucs were expected to make some noise in the NFC South and be in playoff contention. They have fallen well short of those expectations, and now Koetter is on the hot seat. Obviously, when you’re on the hot seat you become more inclined to do whatever it takes to win- that’s certainly the case here.

The Bucs will take on the Lions on Sunday, and Lion’s quarterback Matthew Stafford is currently dealing with an injury on his throwing hand. When asked about it on Wednesday, Koetter didn’t hide anything.

Detroit News writer Geoff Robinson quoted Koetter as saying the Bucs would target Stafford’s injured throwing hand:

That’s certainly not good news for the Lions, as they need a win of their own to keep their slim playoff hopes alive. Stafford is going to need to be able to play if the Lions want to do that.

The game will kick off at 1 ET time, and be televised on FOX.

WHOA! Detroit Lions player likes ‘Fire Caldwell’ tweet

Either way, Detroit Lions corner Quandre Diggs is apparently joining the ranks of those who want Detroit Lions head coach Jim Caldwell to be dismissed from duty. He recently tweeted a not-so-subtle reaction to the still hypothetical scenario of Caldwell being fired, and the administrator of the Twitter page was sure to let everyone know about it.
