Detroit Tigers fans haven’t been overly happy with general manager Al Avila since he took over, to say the least. Many don’t trust that he is the guy who can return the Tigers to glory.

Well, it looks like Tigers fans aren’t the only ones who don’t have much faith in Avila.

Yesterday, theScore released part of it’s GM power rankings. They ranked the worst GM’s in baseball from No. 21-30. Tigers GM Al Avila checked in at No. 29, only Minnesota Twins general manager Derek Falvey was ranked lower.

*Note: The rankings were based on the best trade each GM has made in his career.

TheScore cited that Avila’s biggest trades have involved dealing veterans Justin Verlander, J.D. Martinez, and Justin Upton in order to shed off a lot of the Tigers’ payroll.

These transactions did little to obtain meaningful future assets, leaving his best piece of business so far to be the acquisition of Mahtook. After failing to make much of an impression in Tampa, Mahtook turned into a valuable piece for the Tigers last season, hitting .276/.330/.457 with 12 homers across 109 games, while playing all three outfield positions.

Those sound like pretty legitimate concerns for Tigers fans, who won’t improve their faith in Avila until he can prove he can actually make a move that brings the team some value.
