Dylan Larkin “D-Boss” Bobblehead Giveaway + Top 5 Bobbleheads of All-Time

First, part of the epic video in The Dungeon back in 2010 for those who haven’t seen it.

Alright, if you’re like me, the first question that comes to mind is “Who is the other guy?” Well, his name is Evan Gizinski and he currently plays for the Shelby Surge in the National Roller Hockey League, while attending Oakland University. He grew up playing with Dylan Larkin, and while he obviously didn’t have the NHL destiny that Larkin had, he still made an appearance as E.G. $layer and received some recognition for his sniping abilities in this viral video.

The next question you are probably asking yourself is “Where does this rank on the all-time bobblehead giveaways list?” It’s top 5 material, that’s for sure. Let’s take a look at the rest.

No. 5 | Max Scherzer – Detroit Tigers Opening Day, 2014

This one wasn’t technically a “giveaway” per say but part of a promotion the Detroit Tigers put together before the 2014 season to get fans excited about their remarkable starting rotation and subsequent season.

As you can see, the giant bobblehead was placed outside Comerica Park to keep the demons away from the stadium at night. Just kidding, but seriously. Heterochromia Iridum (different color iris in his eyes) is obviously part of Scherzer’s appeal, but what makes this bobblehead so creepy and awesome is the Tigers somehow found a way to make Max look like a cross-eyed Gollum and for that, it has made it to #5 on our all-time bobblehead list.

No. 4  | Jayson Werth – Potomac Nationals (Class A – WSH), 2014

You guys ready to get beard? That’s exactly what the Potomac Nationals did with this Jayson Werth bobblehead, featuring more hair than Jesus himself. Now Jayson Werth is known for his glorious face sweater but I think they may have gone a little overbeard on this one. The bobblehead featured hair all the way down to Werth’s lower back, which is way too realistic looking for bobblehead standards. The beardest part of this entire ordeal? Werth never even played for the Potomoac Nationals on his way to the big leagues. He came up through the Orioles and Blue Jays systems. Either way, Werth snags the #4 spot on our list and the #1 spot for bobblebeards.

No. 3 | Dylan “D-Boss” Larkin – Detroit Red Wings, 2017

November, 2010. This is the date in time our 21-year old Detroit Red Wings star officially became D-Boss.

The video resurfaced last year and become a viral sensation, showing a lighter side of Dylan Larkin during his teenage years, which I guess just ended two years ago. The Red Wings are finally capitalizing on the video to commemorate some filthy stick work and top cheddar snipes dating back to the early 2010’s. As awesome as this bobblehead is, I had to keep it at #3 because… WHERE IS MY MAN E.G. $LAYER?! Everyone knows D-Boss wouldn’t be where he is today if E.G. $layer wasn’t right there by his side in The Dungeon with their whips snip showin’ tendies.

Maybe the Wings are holding off for later in the season to complete the set. Shoutout Bauer One95 and Patty Kane, baby.

No. 2 | John Beilein Super Soaker – Michigan Wolverines, 2017

Call it recency bias but come on, this bobblehead is amazing.

Michigan upsets Louisville in the tournament last March and John Beilein comes into the locker room post game like it’s Call of Duty WWII. Bold strategy running directly into the pit with your head down and eyes closed but to each his own.

This was one of the many highlights from the epic postseason run the Wolverines had last year, and the bobblehead will go down as the best re-creation in Michigan history, barring a Fab Five high-black socks group bobblehead we will probably never have the pleasure to see.

No. 1 | Marshawn Lynch Cart Bobblehead – California Golden Bears, 2016

The GBOAT (greatest bobblehead of all-time) and it really isn’t close. During the 2006 season, Cal beat Washington and following the game, Marshawn Lynch took one of the Cal carts and did a victory… uh… lap around the field. In what was probably a dangerous situation looking back now, it also allowed Cal to recreate the moment by unearthing the best bobblehead of all time.

Lynch came back for the game and did some more riding at pregame with his mom to commemorate the giveaway. Next level stuff.

What do you think, Nation? What are some of the best bobbleheads of all time?
