According to hockey insider Elliotte Friedman, the Red Wings have offered forward Bertuzzi $3.15 million in salary arbitration, Bertuzzi countered with $4.25 million.

Tyler Bertuzzi

He just finished a two-year contract worth an AAV of $1.4 million.

For those who may still be a bit unfamiliar with how this process works, keep on reading.

Bertuzzi’s arbitration hearing is scheduled for October 25; the two sides are still able to reach an agreement before then. Should that not happen, a decision will be made by the arbiter and will be announced within 48 hours of the hearing.

Any decision by the arbiter would be for a one-year pact between the two. The Red Wings would have the option of signing Bertuzzi to the said deal, or walking away from it.

However, if the Red Wings were to agree to the deal, Bertuzzi would be come an unrestricted free agent after next season.

Bertuzzi led all Red Wings scorers last season with 21 (27 assists) while putting up a career high 48 points. The nephew of former NHL All-Star and Red Wings forward Todd Bertuzzi, the Red Wings selected Tyler 58th overall (Round 2) of the 2013 NHL Draft.

Do you see the two sides being able to hammer out a deal?
