The Detroit Tigers made things official in October, hiring A.J. Hinch as their new manager following the retirement of Ron Gardenhire near the end of the 2020 regular season.
The move has garnered a positive reaction from the likes of former Tigers manager Jim Leyland and former ace Justin Verlander, as well as players on the current roster.
And according to Hinch, there’s one key element to bringing the Tigers back into contention: pitching.
“If we’re going to do this right in Detroit, we have to get the pitching right,” he said during an interview with MLB Network Radio.
Additionally, Hinch revealed that the team intends to add another starter alongside the likes of Matthew Boyd, Michael Fulmer, and Spencer Turnbull.
We certainly hope that whomever the Tigers bring aboard will have a better tenure in the Motor City than Jordan Zimmermann, a high-priced free agent that didn’t live up to expectations.
