There has been plenty of speculation about Pavel Datsyuk potentially returning to the Detroit Red Wings before he skates off into the sunset of retirement.

According to Helen St. James of the Detroit Free Press, that scenario is unlikely to happen as Datsyuk will likely play for Avtomobilist Yekaterinburg, which is located in Pavel’s hometown.

Daniel Milstein, Datsyuk’s agent, told the Free Press that his client will probably play in his hometown next season.

From Detroit Free Press:

“We are meeting in the coming days to discuss options and future plans,” Milstein said. “It’s very likely Pavel will live up to his promise of playing for his hometown team in Russia.

“NHL options will also be discussed.”

Milstein said there’s a 90% probability of Datsyuk staying in Russia.

Well, for those of you who dreamed about a Datsyuk return to the Motor City, it sounds like there is about a 10% chance of that happening.
