The Detroit Tigers may have had to wait an extra day to get the second half of their season going but they sure did make the most of it by sweeping a doubleheader against the Minnesota Twins.
After beating the Twins 1-0 in Game 1, the Tigers needed an extra inning to win Game 2 but that is exactly what happened as Miguel Cabrera hit a walk-off bloop single to give the Tigers a 5-4 win.
But the biggest takeaway from Saturday night’s game was how loud the 31,624 fans at Comerica Park were as they supported the Tigers.
Following the game, Tigers manager AJ Hinch had a message for the fans who came out to support the team.
“Thanks to the fans for coming out and creating a great night,” Hinch said. “We’re trying to earn their respect. They really created a nice vibe tonight. It’s a step in the right direction for the entire organization, to have this type of environment.”
Tonight was special. That's all credit to you.
