Heading into the 2021 MLB season, many believed that the Detroit Tigers would be one of the worst teams in all of baseball.
Instead, the Tigers not only exceeded expectations but they actually flirted with getting to .500 during the final couple weeks of the season.
Yes, players win and lose baseball games but managers can certainly steer the ship and that is exactly what Tigers manager AJ Hinch did in 2021.
On Tuesday night, the 2021 American League Manager of the Year award was announced and the winner is Kevin Cash of the Tampa Bay Rays. Cash finished ahead of Scott Servais (Mariners) and Dusty Baker (Astros).
Though Hinch was a ways down in the voting, he did finish 7th with three third-place votes.
Don’t be surprised at all to see Hinch on this list for years to come! Hopefully, even higher!
