Though the entire team was not in attendance to do some COVID and Visa issues, the Detroit Tigers held their first ‘full-squad’ workouts on Monday in beautiful Lakeland, Florida.
Leading the way was new Tigers’ manager, AJ Hinch, who is being given a second chance after serving a suspension for his connections to the sign-stealing scandal with the Houston Astros.
Following the Tigers’ first workout, Hinch was asked about what his message to the team was on their first day as a full team.
Hinch said that “This isn’t a movie. This is a Major League clubhouse.”

But according to Tigers’ outfielder Robbie Grossman, Hinch has already made his presence known, noting that Hinch is the “best communicator” he has been around.
Though it could still be at least a week before the Tigers’ full roster is in Lakeland, you can bet Hinch will continue to teach and lead and do his best to get each and every player to buy into his plan.
And so far, it seems like players are doing just that.
