AJ Hinch says Tigers players are frustrated after latest loss

You can understand that fans of the Detroit Tigers are frustrated after the latest setback that saw their offense once again struggle to get anything going.

And according to skipper A.J. Hinch, the players are too.

Starter Matthew Boyd had a gem of a start wasted this afternoon at Comerica Park, as his teammates were only able to muster a single run on three hits; Willi Castro hit a solo-shot in the 5th inning. Detroit has now lost eight of their last nine games.

Hinch stated afterwards that he believes that the team is better than what their record shows, and that his players are frustrated with how things are going.

“We’re better than how we’ve played and we’re getting it handed to us pretty often right now,” Hinch said. “So our guys are pretty frustrated and, quite honestly, pissed off.”

The good news is that Boyd enjoyed another strong outing, allowing just two runs through eight innings of work.

“He was in complete control and arguably could have finished the game himself,” Hinch said. “He was incredible. It was unfortunate for all of us that we couldn’t pull it out when you get a game like that. He had all of his pitches going. He was dominant. He got guys out in different ways.”
