That being said, according to Tigers general manager Al Avila, we may get a glimpse into the future as a pair of top pitching prospects could make their debuts in Detroit at some point in 2020.
At the MLB Winter Meetings in San Diego, Avila said the Tigers will go into Spring Training with an open mind regarding top pitching prospects Casey Mize and Matt Manning. Avila added that the ideal plan is to start them both in 2020 and that in 2021 the club will have “an even more open mind.”
Al Avila says the Tigers will go into spring training with an open mind re: Casey Mize and Matt Manning.
But the ideal plan is starting them in AAA. They could have a chance to debut by the end of 2020. Come the next spring training, the club will have "an even more open mind."
