AL executive bashes Detroit Tigers’ trade tactics

The Major League Baseball trade deadline has come and gone and Matthew Boyd is still a member of the Detroit Tigers.

Boyd, who has been the Tigers’ best starting pitcher this season has been mentioned as a potential trade chip ever since he got off to a hot start, and rightfully so.

That being said, Tigers general manager Al Avila made it pretty clear that he was not going to just give Boyd away for nothing. In fact, there were reports that Avila asked for New York Yankees sensation Gleyber Torres in exchange for Boyd, a proposal which was laughed at by anyone who has a clue about baseball.

Now, according to Anthony Fenech, one American League executive bashed the Tigers (and presumably Avila), saying, “They’re impossible to deal with.”

This is absolutely embarrassing to read if you are a Tigers’ fan, especially considering owner Chris Ilitch just gave Avila an undeserved contract extension.

I have said from Day 1 that I did not trust Al Avila to rebuild the Tigers and unfortunately, it looks like I was 100% correct.
