Georgia Tech has landed a notable addition at quarterback.

Indiana transfer Alberto Mendoza announced Tuesday that he has signed with the Yellow Jackets, making the move just days after the Hoosiers captured the College Football Playoff National Championship with a win over Miami. Mendoza entered the NCAA transfer portal one day after that title game and quickly zeroed in on Georgia Tech, visiting and committing shortly thereafter.

The 6-foot-2, 207-pound redshirt freshman showed plenty of promise in limited action during the 2025 season. In nine appearances, Mendoza completed 75 percent of his passes for 286 yards, added 190 rushing yards, and accounted for six total touchdowns while throwing just one interception. His dual-threat ability and efficiency made him an intriguing option on the portal market.

Mendoza is also the younger brother of Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback Fernando Mendoza, adding another layer of intrigue to his development. With three years of eligibility remaining, he now joins a Georgia Tech program looking to build around young, athletic playmakers at the most important position on the field.
