The Detroit Lions are 3-2 after their first five games and the attitude of many fans and media have certainly taken a turn for the worse following Detroit’s 27-24 loss to the Carolina Panthers in Week 5. Prior to that game, the talk was about whether or not the Lions were the best team in the NFC and now it’s about Sunday’s game against the New Orleans Saints being a “must-win.”

Even since he took the reigns, Lions general manager Bob Quinn has made it 100% clear that he will always be looking to improve the roster and that building depth is a key. He has followed that blueprint up to this point and there is no reason to think he will change that direction moving forward.

On Friday, the San Francisco 49ers released former All-Pro linebacker, NaVorro Bowman and if the Lions act fast, they could swipe him up and instantly improve their defense. If Quinn does sign Bowman, the Lions would have the option of playing him on the outside or even moving rookie Jarrad Davis and allowing Bowman to play in the middle. Doing that would allow both linebackers to be on the field at the same time.

Bowman was originally drafted by the 49ers in the 3rd Round of the 2010 NFL Draft and he quickly emerged as one of the best linebackers in the NFL. He was named to the NFL All-Pro team in 2011-2013 and again in 2015 while being selected to the Pro Bowl in 2012, 2013, and 2015.

What do you think, Nation? Should the Lions take a chance on Bowman?
