The 2021 NFL regular season is in the books and the Detroit Lions have already shifted their focus to the offseason, where they will have some very important decisions to make in terms of roster additions and roster subtractions.
When the Detroit Lions went out and signed EDGE rusher Trey Flowers prior to the 2019 season, the hope was that he would come in and wreak havoc for opposing quarterbacks.
Unfortunately, despite being a great locker room guy and an even better person in the community, Flowers has been disappointing on the field. In fact, in 29 games with the Lions, Flowers has just 10.5 sacks.
Flowers is set to make a whopping $16 million in 2022, which is way more than any team would want to pay for the production he has brought to the table.
All signs point to the Lions releasing Flowers and if they do, they will free up north of $10 million to spend in other places.
Look for the Lions to release Flowers in the not-too-distant future.
