The Detroit Pistons announced this past November that they’ll be joining the Detroit Red Wings at the brand new Little Caesars Arena in downtown Detroit beginning this fall. And now, it in addition to a new arena, it looks as though they may be sporting a new logo.
According to Conrad Burry of sportslogos.net, the Pistons filed an official trademark to the European Union Intellectual Property Office for a new primary logo.

To further add fuel to the fire, the new alleged logo went live on the NBA store website before being taken down. The logo appeared on a sweatshirt labeled as the “Primary Logo Hoodie”.

Fans will immediately recognize the new alleged logo as being a slightly updated version of the classic “Bad Boys” logo the team sported from 1979-96. The team won back-to-back NBA titles in 1989 and 1990 wearing them.
The main noticeable difference between the two is the wordmark font on the team text.
“The answer to that is in a steel vault in an underground bunker at an undisclosed location somewhere in southeastern Michigan – or maybe in the Thumb,” he responded to the fan’s question. “They keep moving it on me and I can never keep it straight. All I’m authorized to say is you’re probably going to want to stay tuned with some hints potentially coming before the month is up.”
Though the team did not comment on the new alleged logo change, Pistons.com editor Keith Langlois hinted at the possible change when he was asked whether or not the team logos and colors would remain the same at Little Caesars Arena.
The alleged new logo began making appearances on apparel and even on the court at The Palace in recent years.
The NBA Draft Lottery is this upcoming Tuesday, May 16. It remains unclear at this point whether or not there will be an official announcement before then.
