Fox Sports raised some eyebrows this week after publishing a flat-out inaccurate report about Detroit Lions wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown.
On Wednesday, Fox’s NFL account posted a video on Instagram highlighting St. Brown’s passionate, and very colorful, celebration after his third-quarter touchdown against the Ravens on Monday Night Football. The problem? The post included a graphic claiming St. Brown had been fined $42,069 by the NFL.

That’s where things went sideways. According to a league source who spoke with MLive, no such fine has been issued. The NFL typically releases its official list of fines on Saturdays, and as of Friday afternoon, St. Brown hasn’t been punished for the outburst.
A league source has confirmed to me and @MLive x @MLiveSports that a recent report/post from Fox Sports that suggests #Lions WR Amon-Ra St. Brown received a fine from the NFL for "inappropriate language" from Monday's game vs. Ravens is inaccurate. pic.twitter.com/IpI3AGelGq

It’s especially odd given Fox is a broadcast partner of the NFL, yet the misleading post remained online into Friday, blurring the line between actual reporting and pure speculation.
St. Brown, for his part, shrugged off the moment. After the win, he even apologized for the profanity while admitting he was “just full of emotions” during a critical play that tied the game.

For now, fans can relax, Amon-Ra St. Brown’s wallet is safe.
