Analytics based mock draft has Detroit Lions passing on greatness

When it comes to this time of the year, everybody and their brother is posting their latest NFL mock drafts. Heck, we have already come across a couple that are labeled as version 6.0!

The mock draft we are about to share with you, which was posted by Cynthia Frelund of the NFL Network, uses analytics to show how the NFL Draft should play out if teams want to maximize their wins in 2020.

To read more about how Frelund comes up with this data, please click here.

In Frelunds mock, she has EDGE Chase Young going No. 1 overall to the Cincinnati Bengals and LB Isaiah Simmons going No. 2 to the Washington Redskins.

That means when the Detroit Lions are on the clock at No. 3, they would have the opportunity to select Joe Burrow, Tua Tagovailoa, or even Jeffrey Okudah.

But instead, the analytics say the Lions should select DL Derrick Brown out of Auburn.

In case you are wondering, Burrow ends up going No. 5 to the Dolphins and Tua goes No. 6 to the Chargers.

Nation, we are fairly confident that the NFL Draft will not play out like this, but what would you think if the Lions selected Derrick Brown with the No. 3 pick over Joe Burrow?

Personally, I am not a huge fan of taking Brown at No. 3 and I believe the only way he will be a Lion is if they were to trade down and Okudah and Simmons are both off the board.
