Andrew Romine went BOOOOOOM!!
The super utility man took a lower zone breaking ball ten rows deep for the first grand slam of his career. The salami gave the Tigers a 5-3 lead in the bottom of the fourth inning.

Romine has come out blazing for the new season. The grand slam was his fifth hit, fourth for
extra bases, in 10 plate appearances. Each time manager, Brad Ausmus, puts him in the lineup it has been to the benefit of the club. Begging the question, should Romine be getting a more solid role with the club. With J.D. Martinez out, it seems that Romine — a superb defender — could fill that role nicely.
On a different, but not really, note the Tigers now have homered in each of their first eight games. The first club in the American League to accomplish such a feat since the Cleveland Indians did it back in 2012.

However, those long balls aren’t coming from your typical culprits — Cabrera, Martinez, and Martinez. Six of them have been produced by the bottom third of the lineup — McCann, Iglesias, Jones, and Romine.
Six homers this month from bottom 4 guys in Ausmus' order: Cabrera, Victor Martinez, J. Upton — 3-4-5 guys — have zero. Hey, it's baseball

It seems unlikely that the team will be able to keep that type of pace up; however if the bottom third of the lineup continues to produce at a similar or slightly less rate than they are now, when the big boys start hitting, watch out American League. It’s been a fun start to the season, and it’s only going to get better from here.
Wonder what fan that caught the ball will get in exchange… You KNOW they will want a swap out to give Andrew that ball!!
Absolutely they want that ball. I’d imagine a bat would be due exchange, maybe batting gloves or something.
