Anibal Sanchez becomes United States Citizen

Today, even though his team lost to the Baltimore Orioles in the Grapefruit League opener, Anibal Sanchez still came out a winner. Sanchez was among 123 immigrants that became United States Citizens today. Sanchez took the oath of citizenship in Miami County today, a place he is familiar with from his time with the Miami Marlins.

From Ari Odzer of NBC Miami,

“Sanchez said it’s a huge honor to become a citizen. ‘I feel great, I feel great, it’s another goal in my life, it’s another dream come true,’

“Sanchez said he’s looking forward to voting, and no matter what happens in Washington, America will always be a magnet. ‘The people they want to come here and they want to make a great future and have the opportunity, the American dream so the people have to do it, no matter what.'”

Sanchez is looking to rebound from a rather disastrous year last season in the Old English D; however, we can all rejoice for the big step he took this afternoon.

From all of us here at Detroit Sports Nation, congrats Anibal!
