Anthony Mantha leaves game after awkward landing

Another injury scare for Red Wings forward Anthony Mantha. This one comes late in the third period of a game in which the Red Wings trailed 4-0.

As you can see in the video, Mantha attempted to physically challenge Jake Muzzin of the Toronto Maple Leafs. That of course did not go according to plan, as Muzzin slammed Mantha to the ice.

After lying on the ice motionless for moments, Mantha was able to get up and work his way to the bench, with help from his teammates, and did not see the ice again. Based on video, one could argue that Muzzin’s takedown may have been the result of a slight slew-foot. It will certainly be interesting to see if any supplemental discipline is handed out as a result of his actions.

Toronto went on to win the game by a final score of 4-1.
