Arizona Cardinals name starting QB for Week 1 matchup vs. Detroit Lions

In 2018, the Detroit Lions finished 6-10 and comfortably out of the NFL Playoffs. They hope to turn that around in 2019 after some big time roster additions, including rookie tight end T.J. Hockenson and defensive end, Trey Flowers.

The Lions will open up the 2019 season on the road against the Arizona Cardinals and according to the Cardinals GM Steve Keim, rookie quarterback Kyler Murray will be starting his first regular season game in the NFL.

From: Pro Football Talk:

“We didn’t draft him one overall to ride the pine,” Keim added on The Rich Eisen Show this week. “I know it’s a lot to put on his back, but that’s why we drafted him. He’s a fierce competitor, and that’s what he did at Oklahoma this year. He put the team on his back. They didn’t have a great defense, and he knew he had to score on almost every series to give them a chance to win. I sort of like the chances there.”

Nation, is this a big advantage for the Lions right off the bat or will Kyler Murray pick them apart?
