Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford suffered a rib injury during Sunday's loss against the Green Bay Packers, and his status for Sunday's game against the Tennessee Titans remains unclear.
And while Stafford refuses to count himself out, backup quarterback Chase Daniel is ready to go if called upon. Daniel finished Sunday's game after Stafford's exit, and is “pumped” about potentially being under center with his teammates against the Titans.
“You just don't know what's going to happen,” he said “Of course, I'm pumped. I'm pumped to be out there with teammates. You play the game to play. If my number's called I'll definitely be ready.”
Daniel has made four starts in his NFL career and has completed 160 of 237 passes for a total of 1,553 yards, eight touchdowns and six interceptions.
He also had nothing but good things to say about C Frank Ragnow, who suffered a fractured throat; like Stafford, Ragnow's status for Sunday is unclear.
“It’s easy for us to do as QB’s us making all the calls and relay them,” Daniel said of Ragnow. “We really didn’t seem to miss a beat. That’s pretty incredible when your throat is fractured and you’re used to making all the calls.”
