On Tuesday afternoon, prior to the 4:00 p.m. NFL trade deadline, the Detroit Lions traded tight end T.J. Hockenson and a pair of draft picks to the Minnesota Vikings for a second-round pick in 2023 and a third-round pick in 2024. Following the announcement of the trade, everybody and their brother came out of the woodwork to give their thoughts on the trade, some agreeing with it and some calling it stupid. One person who is not happy at all about the trade is Detroit native, Bart Scott.
What did Bart Scott say about the Detroit Lions trading T.J. Hockenson?
Following the trade, Scott, who is on ESPN Radio, used his platform to bash the Lions for trading Hockenson.
“This is why the Lions are dumb, one of the most dysfunctional organizations in all of the sports,” Scott said. “They wasted the prime of Barry Sanders, who just quit after 10 years….. Calvin Johnson, Ndamukong Suh. Like, Matthew Stafford had to run to get away.”
“So, just remember, I got a second-round draft pick,” Scott continued. “That’s great, right?…. Well, what will it take you to get a player of his (Hockenson’s) magnitude? They picked this dude 8th overall! He’s a top-10 pick! So, you don’t replace him with a second-round pick, ’cause he won’t be there!”
