Bob Probert records New Year’s Eve hat trick vs. St. Louis Blues

On December 31, 1987, Detroit Red Wings bruiser Bob Probert had what is arguably the greatest offensive game of his career when the Red Wings beat the St. Louis Blues at Joe Louis Arena.

During the game, Probert scored his first career hat trick and also added an assist along the way as the Red Wings put a 7-2 New Year's Eve beat down on the Blues.

During the 1987-88 season, Probert scored a career-high 29 goals and dished out a career-high 33 assists while racking up what was also a career-high 398 penalty minutes as he was selected to play in his only NHL All-Star Game.
