A.J. thinks one of the best moves this offseason was the haul the KC Chiefs got for Tyreek Hill and avoided having to pay him a massive deal, but Paul thinks it might just cost them a division title.
Paul Rochon: I think Kansas City and Denver, are the top two teams, even with all the Denver gave up, we saw all the offseason acquisitions the whole AFC West made, but specifically the Raiders and the Chargers, trying to leap up from the bottom of the division, which is it really, Denver was in the bottom of the division last season, but Denver got the one piece that everybody thinks that they were missing. And I really do think that Russ Wilson, especially healthy, is going to flourish in Denver.
Don’t forget the Raiders. The Chargers blew their chance to make the playoffs last season. In fact, the chargers and the Raiders almost made it together, but they didn’t because we didn’t get the tie that would’ve been super cool.
They blew it. And the Raiders got in the playoffs over them. So you have, the Raiders are a playoff-caliber team. The Chargers should be a playoff-caliber team. Denver has contending aspirations, which is way too early to see what they’re going to be, but it’s possible. And then you look at KC lost Tyreek Hill, which yes, I don’t think it’s as big of a loss as a lot of people do, but there’s going to be an adjustment there. Travis, Kelsey is going to have to pick up a lot of slack, but so are other guys, they brought in Juju Smith Schuster. That could be an underrated pickup, but there’s going to be an adjustment there.
http://gty.im/1346646738They’re lucky guys like Frank Clark took a pay cut to stay there, but you’re starting to see the effects of the holmes contract. The year in and year out, the grind of going deep in the playoffs of losing gut-wrenching games. Right. It’s tough to take your toll after a while when you’re talking about dominating a division year after year, and now you have all three teams have the potential to gun for that number one spot. That’s going to be a blood bath. So I’m going to go out on a limb. I don’t know who’s going to win it, but I’m going to say K.C doesn’t and this one’s a bold prediction.
