Unless you have literally been living in a cave (without a cell phone) for the past year or so, you are well aware of the attention that Jim Harbaugh has received since becoming head coach at Michigan. It almost seems like there has to be more than one of him because he is everywhere.
Though some fans and critics have become annoyed with Harbaugh’s antics, he definitely has a fan in Detroit Tigers manager Brad Ausmus. Ausmus is well aware of the attention Harbaugh has received and thinks it is well deserved.
“He’s been very successful and he’s got a very infectious personality,” Ausmus said on Sunday. “He deserves the attention he’s gotten. They had another good year — really, a turnaround year — this year.
“I don’t know if I’ve seen anyone like him. I can’t think of anything off the top of my head. It seems like it’s deserved.”
It was recently announced that Harbaugh would be coaching first base for the Tigers in one of their upcoming Spring Training games. He will already be in Florida with his team for spring practice and figured, why not? Ausmus acknowledged that Harbaugh would be coaching with the team as long as it is approved by MLB.
“It was just a situation where he was in town, he was going to the game,” Ausmus said. “We were made aware of it. We knew he had coached first base for Oakland. We knew he was a big Tigers and baseball fan. So the connection was made.”
What do you think, Nation, is the attention that Harbaugh is getting deserved, or is it getting old?
