When the 2021 season begins, the Detroit Lions will look much different than they did a year ago, especially when it comes to the wide receiver position.
One receiver who will be playing elsewhere in 2021 is Kenny Golladay, who signed a huge multi-year deal with the New York Giants.
On Monday, Lions GM Brad Holmes was asked about why Golladay is not returning to Detroit and his response was music to my ears.
Holmes noted that there is plenty of depth at wide receiver both in free agency and via the NFL Draft and that is why Golladay did not get a big contract from the Lions.
Brad Holmes mentions the depth at WR when asked about Kenny Golladay not returning, says he wishes Golladay the best in NY, happy he got the deal he wanted with the Giants.

A couple of us here at DSN have been very vocal about not overpaying for a wide receiver and not selecting a wide receiver too high in the draft and Brad Holmes’ actions so far seem to be in line with that thinking.
Now let’s just hope the Lions don’t take a wide receiver with the No. 7 overall pick in the upcoming draft!
