The Detroit Lions have a new general manager and his name is Brad Holmes.
Holmes was officially announced as the Lions’ next GM on Thursday but he knew the job was his following his interview on Wednesday and he could not wait to tell her the news.
Holmes’ mother told Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press that she started crying when she could out that her son was going to be the next general manager of the Lions.
From Detroit Free Press:
“I said, ‘Hey, how did everything go?’” Joan Holmes said. “And (Brad) says, ‘They offered me the job.’ And I just started crying. And so my friend came over, thought I got bad news and he was like, ‘Are you OK? Are you OK?’ and I said, ‘Oh my God, I don’t even believe this true.'”
According to Holmes’ mother, he was very emotional when he told her the good news, noting that his plan is to make a difference with the Lions.
“He was very emotional,” Joan Holmes said. “I don’t know if he cried, but he was very emotional. He said, ‘Mom, I just really think I can make a difference.’ I just remember him saying that. ‘Mom, I just really think I can make a difference.’ I said, ‘You will.'”
Time will tell if Brad Holmes will be the GM that finally builds a Super Bowl contender in Detroit but I like what I hear.
