This is certainly not the news that Detroit Lions fans wanted to see today.
According to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, the Lions have placed defensive lineman Haloti Ngata on Injured Reserve. Since Ngata is being placed on IR, he will automatically be out of action for the next eight weeks.

The Lions also officially announced on Wednesday that they have signed free-agent defensive end Datone Jones and defensive tackle Caraun Reid.

Datone Jones is a former first-round pick of the Green Bay Packers. He most recently was signed by the Minnesota Vikings but was placed on IR before being cut on Sept. 8 of this year.
Caraun Reid is a name Lions fans will likely remember as he was originally drafted by Detroit in the 5th Round of the 2014 NFL Draft. He most recently was with the San Diego Chargers organization but was placed waived in early September.
