The DeAndre Levy era in Detroit has come to an end.
According to NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport, the Detroit Lions are set to release long-time LB DeAndre Levy after eight years with the team.

According to ProFootballTalk, cutting Levy allows the Lions to avoid having $1.75 million of his salary become guaranteed this weekend. Dave Birkett added that he’ll be designated as a post-June 1 cut, which allows the Lions to save more money under the cap without being able to use it until after that date.
The Lions drafted Levy in the third round of the 2009 NFL Draft out of Wisconsin. He leaves after eight years of service with the Lions, although final two years with the team were marred with injury, appearing in only six total games.
