On Jan. 26, Bates was arrested after refusing to pay a $32 cab fare for a ride from Manhattan. Bates eventually refused to be fingerprinted and punched a police officer. He was admitted to a psychiatric ward where he pleaded not guilty to charges of assault, resisting arrest, theft of services and obstruction of governmental administration on Feb. 5.
We send our best wishes to Bates. Hopefully, he gets the help he needs.
