A day later, the Lions have announced that they have promoted WR Andy Jones from the practice squad for Sunday’s game against the Chicago Bears. In a corresponding move, LB Nicholas Grigsby has been signed to the practice squad.

From Detroit Lions:

The Detroit Lions announced today that they have signed WR Andy Jones to the active roster from the practice squad. In addition, the Lions signed free agent LB Nicholas Grigsby to the practice squad.

Jones began the 2018 season on the club’s Reserve/PUP list before being elevated to the active roster and appearing in the team’s Week 9 contest at Minnesota. He came to the Lions in 2017 as a member of the practice squad following stints with the Houston Texans (2017) and Dallas Cowboys (2016). Jones originally entered the NFL in 2016 with the Cowboys as an undrafted free agent out of Jacksonville.

Grigsby comes to Detroit after most recently spending time with the New England Patriots where he appeared in nine games with four tackles this season. He originally entered the NFL in 2016 as an undrafted free agent with the Los Angeles Rams out of Pittsburgh and appeared in six games with Los Angeles. His career totals include four tackles (three solo) in 20 games.

Published

on

This coming Thursday, the 2019 NFL Draft will officially begin.

Over the past few months, if you are anything like me, you have read literally hundreds upon hundreds of Detroit Lions’ mock drafts.

So, I figured it would be fun to think outside the box (but inside the state) to come up with what an ‘All-local’ Lions draft could look like.

Check it out.

Round 1 – Devin Bush Jr. (LB) Michigan or Rashan Gary (DL) Michigan

Round 2 – Justin Layne (CB) Michigan State or David Long (CB) Michigan

Round 3 – Sean Bunting (CB) Central Michigan or Chase Winovich (DL) Michigan

Round 4 – Maxx Crosby (Edge) Eastern Michigan

Round 5 – Khari Willis (S) Michigan State

Round 6 – Xavier Crawford (CB) Central Michigan

Round 6 – Karan Higdon (RB) Michigan

Round 7 – Zach Gentry (TE) Michigan

Round 7 – LJ Scott (RB) Michigan State

Now, I know there is a .0000001% chance of this actually happening, but those players should be available when the Lions are on the clock in each round.
