The Detroit Lions have signed punter Jeff Locke to the roster. He will replace the recently injured Kasey Redfern.

Redfern was injured during the Week 1 game against the Arizona Cardinals. According to ESPN, he tore several tendons including the MCL and ACL in his kicking leg while attempting to advance a dropped snap in the first half.

The 4th-year player was in the lineup filling in for the injured Sam Martin.

Newcomer Jeff Locke is a 5th-year punter who played college football at UCLA and was drafted in the 5th round (155th overall) by the Minnesota Vikings. He has spent his entire NFL career with the Vikings and, recently, the Indianapolis Colts. Locke has a career punting average of 43.2 yards and pins 45.9 percent of his punts inside the opponents 20-yard line.

Locke brings some experience to the punting position for the Lions having appeared in 64 games for the Vikings.
