BREAKING: Detroit News’ sports columnist Lynn Henning makes major announcement

According to sportswriter Lynn Henning, his time as a sportswriter for the Detroit News is up.

On Sunday, Henning took to Twitter (of course) to announce he is retiring on Feb. 1 following 40 years of service.

During Henning’s time with the Detroit News, he covered just about everything related to sports in the state of Michigan.

From Detroit News:

Lynn Henning joined the Detroit News sports staff in 1979 and, apart from a magazine sabbatical from 1989-94, has been a News writer and columnist covering, initially, the Tigers, Lions, Red Wings and Pistons, with heavy emphasis on Michigan and Michigan State football and basketball. For the past 10 years, he has specialized in Tigers coverage, but still works the gamut of Detroit and Michigan sports.

We at Detroit Sports Nation wish Mr. Henning the best of luck as he moves on to the next chapter of his life.
