According to the Detroit Tigers, they have called up LHP Tyler Alexander from Triple A Toledo to make his Major League debut.
Alexander will take the mound on Wednesday in Game 2 of the Tigers’ doubleheader against the Chicago White Sox.
Tigers updated rotation at CWS:
Wednesday, Gm. 1 – LHP Daniel Norris
Wednesday, Gm. 2 – LHP Tyler Alexander
Thursday – LHP Matthew Boyd— Tigers PR (@DetroitTigersPR) July 3, 2019
When he was first told by Mud Hens manager Doug Mientkiewicz he would be starting his first Major League game, Alexander did not believe it.
From Detroit News:
“I didn’t believe him,” said Alexander, a lefthander who has been grinding in the Tigers system since 2015. “I stood there for a while, like, ‘You serious?’ It was an awesome moment. It’s a dream.”
Alexander, who is 24, is 2-9 with a 6.23 ERA in 15 games (14 starts) for Toledo.
