The Detroit Tigers are in a funk at the moment and now they will be forced to work their way out of it without their starting second baseman, Ian Kinsler.

On Saturday morning, the Tigers placed Kinsler on the 10-day DL with a left hamstring strain and optioned relief pitcher Chad Bell to Toledo.

In corresponding moves, the Tigers are bringing up RHP Arcenio Leon and JaCoby Jones from Toledo.

Maybe a stint on the DL is not the worst thing for Kinsler as he has not been able to get things going as the Tigers are over a quarter of the way through the season. In fact, in 41 games, he is batting just .239 with four home runs and 11 RBIs. This is coming off a 2016 campaign in which he hit .288 with 28 bombs.

JaCoby Jones started the 2017 season with the Tigers before taking a pitch to the face. In 16 games he showed flashes of brilliance, but overall he looked a bit overmatched, at he hit only .150 during that time.

Leon, who is 30-years-old, has been solid so far in Toledo this season, posting an ERA of 3.15 and picking up 10 saves in 20 innings of work out of the bullpen.
