Following their 13-4 loss to the Cleveland Indians, the Detroit Tigers announced they are placing starting catcher Grayson Greiner on the 10-day IL with a low back strain. In addition, LHP Ryan Carpenter has been optioned to Triple A Toledo.

In corresponding moves, the Tigers have recalled LHP Gregory Soto and C Bobby Wilson from Toledo. To make room for Wilson on the 40-man roster, RHP Tyson Ross has been transferred to the 60-day IL.

In 43 games this season, Greiner is hitting just .162 with five home runs and 14 RBIs so maybe a stint on the IL will actually refresh him a bit.
