On Friday night, the Tigers announced they have agreed to terms with Shane Greene, Alex Wilson, and Nicholas Castellanos. By doing so, both sides have avoided arbitration.

According to Jon Heyman, the Castellanos deal will be worth $6.05 million for the 2018 season.

Castellanos, who was primarily a third baseman for the Tigers before late in the 2017 season, is expected to be the starting right fielder in 2018.

Last season, Castellanos, who is 25-years-old, hit .272 with a career-high 26 home runs and 101 RBIs in 157 games.

Shortstop Jose Iglesias, as of now, has still not reached a deal with the Tigers.

Detroit Tigers agree to deal with James McCann

It seemed almost like baseball weather on Thursday in Michigan and the Detroit Tigers were busy making a deal with one of the keys to their future.

According to reports, the Tigers and catcher James McCann have avoided arbitration by agreeing to a 1-year, $2.375 million deal.

McCann, who is 27-years-old, made $552,100 in 2017 with the Tigers.

In 2017, McCann hit .253 with 13 home runs and 49 RBIs in 106 games played.

Mike Hessman has been promoted to Double-A Erie hitting coach to replace Phil Clark who was promoted to assistant hitting coach with the Tigers.
